The year was 2008 India was touring Australia, after a highly contested and controversial test series which ended in 2–1 in Australia’s favour it was time of Tri-series featuring hosts Australia, India and Sri Lanka.

In the Commonwealth Bank Series match India faced Australia, batting first Aussies were bowled out for 159 (At that time despite many Australian stars retirement they still have a team to boast of players available like Gilchrist, Hayden, Ponting, Hussey, Symonds, Clark, Lee, Bracken etc) winning against them was like an upset or something which is very rare thing to happen.

India were 102/5 at one stage, when Dhoni the Indian skipper walked in and along with Rohit Sharma took his side to victory, however before this happened something else has happened in the background.

With 10 runs to win, Dhoni called for a needless change of gloves. In cricket, it’s generally with a pair of gloves that you see information arriving from the dressing room. Dhoni was doing the opposite though.

In his book '***The Dhoni Touch***’ journalist Bharat Sundaresan's revealed how Dhoni asked his team not to celebrate exuberantly when India were on the verge of beating Australia in a one-day international at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in 2008, he also instructed Rohit how to shake hands with the Aussies without a hint of excitement.

Sundaresan explained in his book

>"He wanted it to be as tepid as possible. ‘When they give their hand, just firmly hold yours out without folding it like an obligation, but don’t overdo it. And just stare blankly at them without any hint of excitement.'

It was a loud and clear message by the Indian team-

>No Sir, this isn't an upset, this isn't a fluke, we will meet again and we will defeat you again, no big deal.

And yes they defeated Australia and won the 2008 Commonwealth Bank Series.
