It's always a dream for a cricketer to play for his or her national team and also give your best performance for your team that will help them to dominate opposition or win against them.
However, only a few can complete their dreams and able to give a performance that will stay in the memories of fans and due to which cricketers can build their own legacy.
Today we are going to talk about those bowling performances that not only create history but also became milestones for future generations to cover.
Best bowling performance in international test matches -
Without a doubt, Jim Laker's unbelievable bowling performance of 10/53 in the fourth test match of the 1956 Ashes series (at Old Trafford on 31st July 1956) still remains the best bowling performance from the International test match.
This match is also known as Laker's match simply because he took 9 Australian wickets for 37 runs in the first innings and in the second he took all the Australian wickets all by himself, he still holds the best test match bowling figures that are 19/90.
However this wasn't the first time that Jim Laker was able to dismantle the Australian team, just 3 months before the historic test match Laker who used to play for Surrey played a tour match against Australia, in that match Laker took 10/88 in the 1st innings.
In the subsequent Ashes test series Laker took 46 wickets in total.
Best bowling performance in international test matches (Women) -
Shaiza Khan former captain of the Pakistan women's team holds the record of taking the most wickets in a test match.
In the year 2004, Pakistan women's team faced West Indies women team at Karachi, Shaiza took 13/226 which also includes a hat-trick which is only the second in women's test history after Betty Wilson.
Best bowling performance in a one-day international match -
Chaminda Vass is one of the best bowler from Srilanka, he holds multiple records which can be the envy of many bowlers in the international arena, he also holds the record of having the best bowling figures in an ODI match (8/19 in 8 overs), he achieved this feat in the year 2001 against Zimbabwe at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground.
Best bowling performance in a one-day international match (Women) -
Sajjida Shah former Pakistan off-spin bowler currently holds the best bowling figures for Women ODI cricket, in the year 2003 at the International Women's Cricket Council (IWCC), it was the inaugural edition of what is now known as the World Cup Qualifier this was held at the Netherlands.
In the opening match against Japan, she tore through the Japanese batting line-up, taking seven wickets for just four runs which is still the best bowling figures in Women one day cricket. She took twelve wickets overall and was the tournament's top wicket-taker. Sajjida also holds the world record
of being the youngest cricketer to take a five-wicket haul at just the age of 15 years and 168 days.
Best bowling performance in a T-20 international match -
Deepak Chahar Indian pace bowler currently holds the best bowling figures in the T-20 internationals, he took 6 wickets against Bangladesh in a T-20 series. In the third and final T-20 match of the series at the Vidharba Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur Chahar took 6/7 and due to this a well placed Bangladesh (who were chasing 175) faced a mini collapse and lost the match eventually, in the process of creating this record, Chahar also took a split hat-trick and became the first Indian to take a hat-trick in the T-20Is.
Best bowling performance in a T-20 international match (Women) -
Anjali Chand is a Nepali cricketer currently holds the best bowling figures in Women T-20 internationals, Nepal faced Maldives in the opening match of 2019 World T-20I tournament which is coincidentally also the debut of Anjali Chand in Women T-20 internationals, in the match she took six wickets for no runs from just 13 deliveries, she also took a hat-trick in the match.
These are the best bowling figures which are still intact and maybe in future we might see new records that will eclipse all these milestones.
